A very familiar face around College, Sam Miles, steps into the role of Director of Student Life.

Sam is well-known in our community, having been a Residential Tutor at Queen’s since 2019, and also working in academic advising, and most recently stepping into the after hours ESO (Evening Suport Officer) position in the challenging COVID times, when other staff were not permitted on-site because of the lockdown.

He is looking forward to the new role.

“The opportunity to contribute to young adults’ lives in a positive manner during a transitional life phase is a great one. I am hoping to continue to help provide a welcoming environment where students from a variety of backgrounds can mix their academic studies with a range of social experiences, fostering collegiality and a balanced perspective of College life. I’m working with students to plan a great 2024 ahead.”

Sam is currently completing his PhD, researching the experience of international students, with a focus on South America. His academic background has been very diverse, including urban planning, sociology, politics, and international relations across three countries.

We are pleased Sam is continuing his connection with the Queen’s community.
