Attendees at the annual 50 years and Beyond Lunch in November 2019 were intrigued to hear from the Chair of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, Rod Sims (Wyvern 1969). It was Rod’s year of 1969 which was being welcomed into the 50 years and Beyond fold.

Expecting to hear about the intricacies of the ACCC, the audience was instead regaled with stories of Rod’s time in Queen’s, the positive impact it had on him coming from country Victoria and the platform it provided him as he entered the workplace. It was a sense of sharing which was not anticipated.

Rod holds a first-class honours degree in commerce from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Economics from the Australian National University.

At the conclusion of his current term in July 2022, Rod will have been the longest serving Chair of the ACCC.
