Katie Skillington (Wyvern 2006), architect and lecturer in architectural design at the University of Melbourne is our new Arch Wyvern. Katie is excited about the role.

I’m looking forward to building improved linkages between the current student body and young Wyverns who are more established in their fields. I’m also planning to continue to support programs that improve the accessibility of the College experience via mechanisms such as the Wyvern Society Scholarship.”

Katie came to Queen’s from regional NSW, attracted by the Music and Drama Society, then returned as a tutor in 2018.

“As a JCR member of the College, I met some great people who are genuinely lifelong friends. Then, during my time as a tutor at the College, I encountered a cohort of students who were bright, capable, and mature individuals who displayed a genuine desire to evolve into individuals capable of making positive contributions to society.”

Katie loves being able to contribute as a Wyvern.

“The opportunity to mentor students and when I was tutoring, help them with their studies, has given me the rare opportunity to engage with a student’s education longitudinally across several years.

We wish Katie well, and thank outgoing Arch Wyvern Louise Ryan (Wyvern 1977), for her dedication to the role over the past two years. Louise was instrumental in the establishment of the Wyvern Society Scholarship, which was awarded for the first time last year. The scholarship will enable students from disadvantaged backgrounds and from regional and remote areas in Australia to attend Queen’s College.
