Wyverns show the way
Dr Bridget Regan (Wyvern 1993), Director, Clinical Neuropsychologist at Neuroinsight, Psychology Educator at Peninsula Health, and Senior Research Fellow at La Trobe University, chats with students.
Science students enjoyed a feast in every sense at the Science Industries Dinner in the JCR on Wednesday August 13, 2025. Over a delicious meal, Queen’s students met and chatted with Wyverns who are leaders in their field, working in virtual reality clinical trials, biotech start -ups, healthcare R&D, and global sustainability. From designing hydrogen-powered hypersonic aircraft, to harnessing AI and data analytics to unlock new insights, to leading science communication that safeguards Antarctica’s future – our Wyverns are shaping the frontiers of science and technology.
Adrian Koenig (Wyvern 2002), Head of Engineering at Hypersonix Launch Systems, has worked across the whole defence life cycle including proposals and project mobilisation, in electronic warfare, guided weapons and autonomous aircraft. He was impressed by the conversations across the dinner table.
“I really enjoyed some in depth conversations with students, and was blown away by the level of motivation and technical capability that they showed. The most enjoyable aspect was being able to discuss their career aspirations and dreams, and give them some concrete examples of Wyverns who have achieved similar goals. Hopefully, showing them a potential path to walk can help them chart their own journey for success.”
Caroline Berg (2nd year Science/Engineering) loved the opportunities the dinner offered.
“I was sitting next to Adrian, and he was incredible. He asked me questions that challenged me. I loved hearing about his interesting life, and it was great to discuss design principles as well as systems engineering principles, there was a lot to learn from him. It was such an amazing, exciting experience.”
We thank our Wyverns who generously donated their evening to share expertise and hard-won experience, helping the next generation see what’s possible – and how to get there.
This was part of Queen’s College’s broader Career Ready programme – a series of workshops, networking events, and alumni partnerships designed to equip our students with the skills, confidence, and connections they need to thrive beyond the College gates.
