At Queen’s College, preparing our students for life beyond university is part of our mission—and our annual CareerReady Dinner is a shining example of this commitment in action.

This year’s dinner brought together over 30 Wyverns from a rich variety of industries—law, medicine, engineering, education, the arts, consulting, finance, tech, startups, government, and more—to share their experiences and insights with current residents. Held in our iconic dining hall, the evening was a vibrant mix of mentorship, storytelling, and laughter, with conversations continuing long after the formal dinner ended.

For our students, it was a chance to learn not just about specific professions, but about the many ways a career can evolve over time. One of the most powerful takeaways was that success doesn’t always follow a straight line—something that many of our Wyverns were generous enough to share from their own journeys.

The experience left a lasting impression on the students who attended. Many spoke afterwards about how energising and encouraging it was to hear from professionals who once sat in their place, and to realise how strong the Queen’s network really is. It was a a reminder that Queen’s is more than just a place to live during university—it’s a launchpad into the world.

For our Wyverns, the dinner was equally rewarding. Many commented on how enjoyable it was to reconnect with students and College life. Their willingness to volunteer their time, share their expertise, and encourage the next generation of Wyverns speaks volumes about the strength and generosity of our alumni community.

The CareerReady Dinner is one part of Queen’s College’s broader CareerReady program—a series of workshops, networking events, and alumni partnerships designed to equip our students with the skills, confidence, and connections they need to thrive beyond the College gates.

Once again, we extend our deepest thanks to our Wyverns for their involvement, and to our students for their curiosity and engagement. The future is bright—and nights like these make it even brighter.
